Key Features

  • Unloading

Transmin undertook the custom design of a turnkey unloading system for PT Newmont, Nusa Tenggara's Batu Hijau site on the Indonesian Island of Sumbawa.

Lump lime is received on site via sea in standard 20' ISO containers which need to be emptied and the lime transferred to a storage silo prior to distribution within the process.

Transmin designed a fully enclosed system including a building to tip the container and pneumatically transfer product into a storage silo alongside. The complete project was executed by Transmin and is a prime example of a safe and custom solution for unloading of ISO sea containers, in this case at a very remote site.

One of Transmin's strength's lies within our engineering design capability, especially for custom machinery. If you have considered loading containers as a supplier or transport company, or unloading as an end user, contact us today. We are confident that an economical solution can be found, be it based upon the system shown here or some other method such as rotating the complete container on its axis to effect discharge through the roof into a hopper below.

Material is collected in a below ground hopper, metered via rotary valves and transferred to an adjacent storage silo by a pneumatic conveying system.

Lime from the silo is collected by road tankers and transferred to the plant for processing in a Transmin ball mill slaking system.

  • Loading

Container loading systems are also available from Transmin in the form of extendable conveyors for loading of containers in the horizontal position or by the use of a tipping frame to oriantate the container to a vertical, or near vertical position for filling by an elevator or similar device.  Members, please visit the Planning In Data Section for examples.Contact Transmin for custom solutions to suit your specific needs.

In Brief

  • There is an increasing trend of bulk materials being transported loose in standard bulk ISO sea containers, especially where sites are remote or large stocks of material need to be stored on site. The standard '20ft' units are commonly used due to ease of handling and competitive cost.

  • Transmin has recognised and risen to the challenge of designing solutions for loading and unloading bulk materials from the containers.

  • Materials such as cement, lime, salt, sugar, sand and aggregates in particular are commonly being transported in this manner.

  • The containers need to be filled and emptied in a safe and efficient manner so Transmin has solutions for exactly this purpose.

  • Most solutions tend to be custom designed as users have differing requirements and usage rates so if you have an interest in this area, please contact us to discuss specifics in detail. We can then develop a workable proposal which caters for your unique conditions and requirements.

  • By applying our extensive experience of general bulk materials handling, we are able to undertake a complete package including storage, weighing, transfer and metering of the product to the process.
